Short answer: if you're under 80 kg, ride tight technical trails, or this is your first e-moto — get the Light Bee X. If you're heavier, faster, or coming off a petrol dirt bike — get the Ultra Bee. Nobody regrets either; people only regret pretending they're the same class of machine.

What the spec sheet doesn't tell you
*The weight difference changes everything.* 47 kg vs 85 kg isn't just a number — it's whether you can lift the bike over a fallen tree, drag it out of a rut solo, or fit it in a hatchback. The Light Bee rides like an overgrown mountain bike. The Ultra Bee rides like a small dirt bike. Those are different sports.
*The Ultra Bee's suspension is in a different league.* KYB components with full adjustability against the Light Bee's fixed-damping DNM units. If you ride fast on rough ground, the Ultra Bee's chassis lets you carry speed the Light Bee simply can't. If you ride slow technical terrain, the Light Bee's low weight matters more than damping quality.
*Range is not close.* The Ultra Bee carries more than twice the energy (4,070 Wh vs 1,920 Wh). Real-world trail range: expect 40–70 km from the Light Bee X and 80–120 km from the Ultra Bee depending on how hard you ride. For all-day backcountry rides, the Ultra Bee is the only one of the two that makes sense without a spare battery.
*Parts and mods.* The Light Bee has been out since 2019 and has the deepest aftermarket of any e-moto ever made — controllers, suspension, wheels, titanium everything. The Ultra Bee's aftermarket is growing fast but still thinner. If your plan is heavy modification, the Light Bee platform is more mature. Browse both ecosystems in our parts catalogue at /parts.
Price reality (2026)
Light Bee X: roughly €4,500–5,500 new depending on market. Ultra Bee: roughly €6,500–7,500. The gap narrows when you factor in that most Light Bee owners spend €1,000+ on upgrades the Ultra Bee ships with (suspension, brakes, bigger battery).
The verdict
- First e-moto, technical trails, or you value flickability → Light Bee X
- Coming from petrol dirt bikes, ride fast, ride far, or weigh 90 kg+ → Ultra Bee
- Budget is the deciding factor → used Light Bee X, spend the difference on suspension
